Augmented Reality applied to Architecture
Augmented reality is a tool that allows you to index virtual content in the real world through link devices such as mobile phones or tablets. That is, it allows the visualization of 3d models in mobile phones a simple and interactive way.
3d modeling in architecture was originally developed as an auxiliary tool to obtain documents such as images and plans. For this, augmented reality needs a platform that introduces the 3d models in the images to be used as markers. In this project we worked with the Aumentaty platform, and its application for Scope smartphones, although there are many options. Keep in mind that the smartphone will render the model live, which means that you have to download it to view it.
Augmented reality should not be confused with virtual reality, since augmented reality superimposes digital elements on the real world. While virtual reality creates a whole world of independent virtual stimuli.
Augmented reality does not have the immersion of virtual reality but communicates two worlds, improving access to information related to physical elements. This will allow in the future to access all the available information of a physical object just by looking at it.
Application to the Architecture of augmented reality
The application of this technology to the world of architecture is a great advance in the possibility of transmitting spatial concepts to the general public. That clients can see the final result in an interactive way would largely avoid changes of opinion as the works and modifications of the project progress.
On the other hand, within the same sector, augmented reality could increase efficiency in the development and material execution of projects. By being able to transmit to all the people involved on site, a model adapted to their work with all the specifications and on a real scale.
